Position Summary: The Bookkeeper is responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping for the organization, as well as monthly and quarterly reconciliations for accounts. This is not a full charge bookkeeping position. It is extremely reconciliation heavy with very few payables.
Hours: October-January are busy / heavy hours times (approx. 20 hours/week). After that 10-15 hours/week average, depending upon qualifications and need. Hours are flexible, and will need to be during general office hours (7am-6pm, Monday – Friday). Schedule to be determined upon hiring.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
● Enter financial transactions in QuickBooks desktop. Perform journal entries, maintain detailed ledger records.
● Reconcile daily, weekly reports, deposits, credit card statements. This position is reconciliation heavy.
● Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations.
● Balance QuickBooks financial data to database financial data on a monthly basis. Supply needed financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
● Monthly and quarterly close, prepare quarterly reports for transfers of program funds, budget tracking, and reports.
● Supply data for annual reports and taxes.
● Support Executive Director in financial and administrative activities as needed.
● Other duties as assigned.

● Thorough working knowledge of Standard Accounting Practices.
● At least 2 years experience in bookkeeping positions.
● Knowledge of QuickBooks desktop software and ability to work with financial accounts and statements.
● History of being a team player and problem solver.
● Prefer experience in an administrative or bookkeeping/accounting position at a not-for-profit organization
● Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with databases and other computer applications (knowledge of Microsoft Office). Strong working knowledge of Excel.
● Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
● Excellent interpersonal skills resulting in positive working relationships with the public, staff, board and volunteers of the agency.
● Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to gracefully manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple projects.
● Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
● Ability to organize and prioritize work.
● Ability to work independently with little supervision.
● Interest in our mission and some general knowledge regarding Tibet and Buddhist culture.
